私と私の彼氏は三年間付き合っています。普通のカップルのように、デイトする時よく一緒にハイキングをしたり、映画館で映画を見たり、友達とあそんだりします。でも、私は韓国人で、彼はアメリカ人なので、文化が違います。中でも両親のことがとても違います。私の両親は伝統的なので、すごく韓国人らしいです。彼の両親は私の両親とは違いとても開放的です。彼は私の両親に２回だけ会いました。私の両親は彼と私はまだ若くて真剣なつきあいじゃないからまだ親しくつきあうはありません。彼の両親は友達のように私にいつもやさしいです。私は彼の家族と旅行したこともなんかいもあるし、サンクスギビングデーなども彼の家族とすごします。　私たちの育ちが違うから、考え方も違います。始めはそのことが難しかったけれど、今はお互いのことを理解しています。例えば、以前彼はサッカーに興味がなくて、私はアメリカンフットボールは好きじゃありませんでした。でも今は彼はサッカーファンになって、私は彼のプットボールチームのファンになりました。育ちに文化が違っても、お互いにわかりあえるように努力することが大切です。

　　Along with the rapid progress of modern technology and national economic development, American customs, traditions and social norms are also changing. Currently, American people are becoming more accustomed and tolerant to such concepts as same-sex relations, increasing exposure of nudity and intimacy in our media, etc. That is why it is possible to say that nowadays dating is based on much more free interpersonal relations and physical closeness, than it was just a couple of decades ago.
　　Teenagers start dating in the age of 13-15, and dating activities usually peak between 17 and 22 years. Modern dating is closely linked to different sorts of public fun, like going out, visiting cinemas, parties, festivals, concerts, etc. Besides, the relations between the dates are emotionally very intense, because they usually see each other every day or contact each other very frequently. Unfortunately, the duration of such relations tends to be shorter and shorter, as well as the duration of dating before making a decision to marry.
　　At that, it is important to mention that there are some dating traditions and tendencies, which are still preserved since early times and being practiced. For example, it is still a responsibility of the man to make plans about the place of the first date, to pay for his lady and to decide about having the second date. In such situation, the girl has to express with her behavioral and emotional reactions whether she liked the arrangement of the date and whether she wants to continue the relations or not.
　　Finally, many new dating opportunities, involve using inventions of technology like Internet or cell phones for searching the partners and arranging the dates with them. In particular, special services offered by mobile connection providers, which help to connect the people who want to find a date, or such concepts as online dating agencies and online dating chat-rooms, where people who want to date can meet and get to know each other, are extremely popular nowadays.

私はオーストラリアの高校に通っていました。ですからアメリカの高校生活の経験がないんです。私が通った女子寄宿学校では小学校６年生から寮にすむことができます。ほとんどの学生は７～９年生から寮に住みます。乗馬学校だったから別の学校と違うスポーツをする人が多かったです。７年生から１０年生まで皆一緒に色んなとこをするから皆なかがよっかったです。ルームメートや、同じスポーツチームとかに入った友達ともっと親しい間柄になったけど、特別なグループはありませんでした。アメリカのチィーンエージャーの映画とかテレビ番組を見ると学校によく色んなグループがあります。同じことに興味がある友達だけで友達になってグループを作ったんだと思います。それはざんねんです。多分アメリカの高校ぜんぶはそうではないと思うんです。このようなテレビ番組をよく見る学生たちはグループを作って同じ友達だけであそぶとこがいいと思っています。それはよくないんです。メディアでもっとなかのいい平和な学生生活をながすことが必要だと思います。
